As well as offering breakdown cover the AA often offer advice on basic maintenance for your car. This resulted in the AA creating some AA Patrol Guides, where certain patrolmen will actually show you how to do some basic things on your car. In this case, it is patrolman Ian who is showing us how to change a spare tyre, somthing that he probably has to so several times a week on callouts, a many are related to flat tyres. The key message is safety with far more to the issue than just removing 4 nuts and replacing them.

We all know about the Autombile Association based in the UK because ethey now has been around for over 100 years, but many are not aware there are several other Autoobile Associations around the world. The one we are focussing on here is the West Indian Automobile Association (WIAA) that has beena around since 1919. This video focuses on road safety, a major concern in India, with a huge rate of road deaths and a driving test that lasts 10 minutes and only requires you drive 100 yards or so.

The West Indian AA have put together some safer driving tips (things we woud take for granted), to make the road safer in India. of course they offer the standard breakdown cover services also , which does consist of modern vans and the typical vehcile insurance, which is somethng most drivers do not have.

It is still interesting to see the the AA emblem is still recognised in INdia as it is here in the UK. WE will mention others countries as we add to this blog, for now here is teh WIAA video.

The MIB campaign has been put together to ensure drivers don’t take the risk of letting their insurance expire even for one day. The AA is fully behind the programme to ensure car owners keep their car insurance up to date. A part from the obvious, “what if you have an accident argument” there is also the law to content with and with 180,000 cars taken off the road last year because of no insurance, there is also a financial one.

However there are also some more honest issues, in that many drivers have the wrong registration against their insurance policy, meaning if they were to be stopped by the police, any check done may show you are no insured, which may take some time to get sorted. Apparently some digits can easily be written down wrong by both the driver and insurance company, an honest simple mistake, which can cost time and money.

So the next time you renew your car insurance or even breakdown cover policy, take some time out to make sure all details are correct, right down to registration number. The MIB stands for the Motor Insurers Bureau of which the AA (who is also an insurer) and not (Men In Black) fully supports the programmes os much it added it as part of their news section.

You can read the full story here are the AA Supports the MIB
