Television Adverts. AA, RAC and Green flag
It is probably no surprise that due to the rewards of the insurance services many companies, including the big 3 in breakdown cover choose to do much of their advertising on TV. Adverts that suit the time of year with a specific theme seem to be the order of the day, although with 21st century adverting techniques you sometime wonder, whether its entertainment they are trying to deliver or the service itself here are some examples.
Recent AA Campaign
It seems that all the AA patrolmen have to prove they can sing before they qualify to fix your car at the roadside. the AA Campaign consists of a group of breakdown cover patrolmen signing their heads off to the "You've got a friend" song. Different versions were filmed throughout the UK, so you recognised the local film location, to give the feeling of this national company being a local one. I don't know about you, but I would rather have a good engineer who could not string 2 singing sentances together than a good looking, well versed actor, to fix my car, in ti,e of trouble. Simon Cowell should ring the AA breakdown cover service up, for the next X Factor.
Recent RAC Campaign
the RAC have chosen humour or attempted it anyway for thier recent RAC TV campaign. The star is of course Vinny Jones, famous in the UK as a tough footballer an one special photograph with Paul Gascoign and internationally for his roles in the Gone In Sixty Seconds the remake and some Guy Richies movies always as the tough guy. His time in Hollywood seems to be over now, so we now see him on TV as a stricken motorist who seems to breakdown reguarly, always in a classic car and of course needs the RAC breakdown cover service to get him back on the road. One amusing TV advert shows how Vinny is trying not to swear as he has a child in the car with him and things just go from bad to worse until he breaksdown in a town called Crapstone.
The RAC alo have a longer advert of over 4 minutes so probably not filmed for TV, but other commercial reasons and show the head office or control offices that run the breakdown cover call outs. It,s name is RAC One Team and seems to show a day in the life of this control centre, in a shorter time of course, but does give an insight to what goes on within the RAC control centre.

The event within the mentioned auto show would be the Design Challenge.
